Consequently, this competitor's concern is twofold: on the one hand, Alstom, which thus has the backing of much larger guarantees than its competitors, could, given the overall decline in the supply of contract bonds since 2002, tender for a larger number of contracts; on the other, Alstom would enjoy lower costs in obtaining guarantees, which is a key aspect given the low profit margins in the sector.
