During his day in Corsica and especially in his address to the Executive Council and the Corsican Parliament, Michel Barnier said that as a result of the memorandum from the French Prime Minister to Mr Prodi on the specific insular character of Corsica, the Commission has set up six special working groups on Corsica, bringing together the Community authorities and the French national and Corsican authorities.
Au cours de cette journée et notamment dans le cadre de son intervention devant le Conseil Exécutif et l'Assemblée Territoriale Corse, Michel Barnier a par ailleurs rappelé qu'à la suite du mémorandum français sur la spécificité insulaire de la Corse transmis à M. Prodi par le Premier ministre français, la Commission a mis en place six groupes de travail spécifiques sur la Corse, associant l'administration européenne et les autorités françaises, nationales et corses.
