Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), I have the honour to present to the House, in both official languages, the report of the Canadian delegation of the Canada–Europe Parliamentary Association, respecting its participation in the 34th annual interparliamentary meeting with the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Canada and the parliamentary mission to Denmark, the next country to hold the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, held in Strasbourg, France and Copenhagen, Denmark, September 10 to 17, 2011.
Monsieur le Président, conformément au paragraphe 34(1) du Règlement, j'ai l'honneur de présenter à la Chambre, dans les deux langues officielles, le rapport de la délégation canadienne de l'Association parlementaire Canada-Europe concernant sa participation à la 34 Réunion interparlementaire de la délégation du Parlement européen chargée des relations avec le Canada et la mission parlementaire au Danemark, le prochain pays à assumer la présidence par rotation du Conseil de l'Union européenne, tenue à Strasbourg en France, et à Copenhague, au Danemark, du 10 au 17 septembre 2011.

Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council and Commission, the Governments and Parliaments of the EU Member States, the UN Secretary-General, the President of the UN Security Council, the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the UN ECOSOC, and the Members of the High-level Panel for UN Reform, as well as to the US Congress, the Interparliamentary Union and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

24. Welcomes the contacts that were made between the parliamentarians attending the WSSD, including the meeting held under Interparliamentary Union auspices, and that between the European Parliament and the Council of Europe; believes that these constituted a useful first step towards the establishment of a parliamentary network to support sustainable development and to ensure greater parliamentary input into future international organisations and greater accountability to Parliament of relevant international organisations such as UNEP and the WTO;

Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission, the governments and parliaments of the EU Member States and applicant countries, the Co-Presidents of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, the Secretaries-General of the United Nations, African Union, Commonwealth, OECD, Interparliamentary Union and Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Economic and Social Council, European Investment Bank, World Bank and International Monetary Fund, and the Directors-General of the Food and Agriculture Programme (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

That, in order to continue Canadian participation on the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Sub-Committee on Finance which is to report on ongoing reforms and a reduction in membership fees to the international Executive Committee in March 2014, this committee instruct the Joint Interparliamentary Council to make the necessary adjustments to its allocation of funds for the current fiscal year in order to allow the Canadian Group to pay its international contribution in January 2014 and to participate in activities including the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Assembly in March 2014.
Que, pour que le Canada continue de participer au Sous-comité des finances de l'Union interparlementaire, qui doit présenter au Comité exécutif, en mars 2014, un rapport sur les réformes en cours et une réduction des frais d'adhésion, ce Comité donne instruction au Conseil interparlementaire mixte d'apporter les ajustements nécessaires pour mobiliser des fonds pour l'exercice en cours de façon à permettre au Groupe canadien de payer sa contribution internationale en janvier 2014 et de participer à des activités, dont l'Assemblée de l'Union interparlementaire de mars 2014.
