In view of this, I would suggest that even at this late stage, there could be a referendum in Turkey where the people are asked whether they acknowledge and want to adopt our principles and values, or whether they would now prefer negotiations to begin for a new and deeper special partnership with the EU.
De ce fait, je proposerais que, même à ce stade tardif, un référendum soit organisé en Turquie afin de demander au peuple s’il reconnaît et veut adopter nos principes et nos valeurs ou s’il préfère que des négociations commencent maintenant en vue d’établir un nouveau partenariat particulier et plus approfondi avec l’UE.
