1. The purpose of this Regulation is to establish a Community procedure for authorising the placing on the market and use of feed additives and to lay down rules for the supervision and labelling of feed additives and premixtures in order to provide the basis for the assurance of a high level of protection of human health, animal health and welfare, environment and users' and consumers' interests in relation to feed additives, whilst ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market.

Le présent règlement a pour objet d'établir une procédure communautaire pour l'autorisation de mise sur le marché et l'utilisation des additifs pour l'alimentation animale et d'établir des règles pour la surveillance et l'étiquetage des additifs pour l'alimentation animale et des prémélanges en vue de jeter les bases d'un niveau élevé de protection de la santé humaine, de la santé et du bien-être des animaux, de l'environnement et des intérêts des utilisateurs et des consommateurs en ce qui concerne les additifs pour l'alimentation animale, tout en veillant au fonctionnement effectif du marché intérieur.
