In May 2006, the government introduced a series of administrative and regulatory mea
sures regarding the firearms program, including transferring responsibility for the Firearms Act and regulations back to the RCMP, which took over from the formerly independent Canada Firearms Centre (CFC) (11) The annual operating budget for the program was reduced by $10 million, and certain fee waivers and refunds were introduced (12) The government also eliminated the need for physical verification of non-restricted firearms, and in
