A further reason why the convening of the Convention is a milestone in European politics is that it will consign the policy of secret diplomacy behind closed doors, of non-transparent decision-making and haggling in marathon night sittings – as happened most recently at the Nice Summit – to the past, hopefully once and for all!
La convocation de la Convention est par conséquent aussi un jalon dans la politique européenne car avec elle, la politique de la diplomatie secrète à huis clos, des processus décisionnels obscurs et du marchandage lors de réunions-marathons de nuit - comme ce fut le cas au Sommet de Nice - appartiendra une fois pour toutes au passé, espérons-le.
