Over the next few years investments of over 10 000 million Ecu will be made in the Federal Republic of Germany to link up the entire country to cable; France is to devote about 10 000 million Ecu to the "cable plan"; and the United Kingdom authorities estimate the technical cost of networks in the major centres at nearly 4 000 million Ecu.
