High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini made the announcement during today's Rome II Ministerial Meeting on support to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Internal Security Forces (ISF) in Rome.
La haute représentante de l'Union pour les affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité et vice-présidente de la Commission européenne, M Federica Mogherini, l'a annoncé au cours de la réunion ministérielle Rome II sur le soutien aux forces armées et aux forces de sécurité intérieures libanaises, qui a eu lieu hier à Rome.

The EU-LAC Summit process is key to implementing the Strategic Partnership. It facilitates dialogue at the highest level, underscores the special nature of the relationship and fuels the bi-regional agenda. The most recent Summit in Lima in 2008 was a chance to discuss positions on strategic topics that are high on the bi-regional and international agenda, such as poverty and climate change. The same trend is noticeable at other high-level bi-regional meetings, such as the EU-Rio Group Ministerial Meeting that took place in Prague (May 2009) and focused on the economic and financial crisis, renewable energy and energy security.
C’est autour du sommet UE-ALC que s’articule la mise en œuvre du partenariat stratégique. Il facilite le dialogue au niveau le plus élevé, souligne la nature particulière de la relation et alimente le programme birégional. Le tout dernier sommet, qui s'est tenu à Lima en 2008, a permis de débattre des positions sur des sujets stratégiques qui figurent en bonne place sur le programme birégional et international, tels que la pauvreté et le changement climatique. On observe la même tendance dans d’autres réunions birégionales à haut niveau, telles que la réunion ministérielle UE-Groupe de Rio, qui a eu lieu à Prague (mai 2009), axée sur la crise économique et financière, les énergies renouvelables et la sécurité énergétique.

The Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, also participated yesterday (11 January) in Paris in the International Ministerial Meeting on Charlie Hebdo, organized by the French Minister of the Interior, Bernard Cazeneuve.

Appreciates the constructive approach of the Serbian Government to relations with neighbouring countries, since this has enabled substantial progress in both regional cooperation and closer relations with the EU, and urges Serbia to continue to build on its good-neighbourly relations; calls on Serbia to promote good-neighbourly relations and the peaceful settlement of disputes, which includes promoting a climate of tolerance and condemning all forms of hate speech or war-time rhetoric and refraining from gestures such as publicly welcoming the return of individuals convicted of war crimes; notes that outstanding disputes and issues, in particular issues of border demarcation, succession, return of cultural goods and disclosure of Yugoslavian archives should be resolved in line with international law and established principles, including through implementation of legally binding agreements, inter alia the agreement on succession issues, and that bilateral disputes should be addressed in the early stages of the accession process in accordance with international law; highlights Serbia’s constructive role in the framework of the ‘Berlin Process’ and the Western Balkan Six initiative and its connectivity agenda; welcomes other initiatives focused on the future of the Western Balkans, in particular the Brdo Process, which proves to be an important framework for cooperation in both political and technical fields, and takes the view that concrete cooperation in areas of mutual interest can contribute to the stabilisation of the Western Balkans; welcomes, in this respect, the first Serbia – Bosnia and Herzegovina joint ministerial meeting, which took place on 4 November 2015 in Sarajevo; calls on Serbia to further promote the stabilisation and institutional strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina through its existing contacts and good-neighbourly relations with the country; reiterates its call on the Serbian authorities to initiate further measures for cross-borde ...

It is therefore essential that the G20, first the ministerial meeting this week, and then the summit in two weeks, is able to pursue effective international policy coordination to rebalance global growth.

Calls on the Commission in this connection to step up its efforts to improve the WTO's internal transparency, on the basis of its proposals for more transparency in the world trading system, in order better to involve the developing countries, in particular, in the work of the WTO; points out that particular attention must be given to greater transparency in the preparation and conduct of Ministerial meetings, to the composition, procedures and reporting mechanisms in respect of informal discussions and to the frequency and timing of formal WTO meetings;
