The Coordination Group will be responsible for overseeing the joint clinical assessments and other joint work carried out by designated national experts organised in sub-groups dedicated to the specific types of joint work (e.g. sub-group on joint clinical assessments, sub-group on joint scientific consultations).

Takes note that in 2013, the IAS performed an audit on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Joint Undertaking's internal control system with regard to management of experts; acknowledges from the audit conclusions that the current internal control system provides reasonable assurance for the achievement of the Joint Undertakings objectives as regards the management of experts; furthermore, notes that several important recommendations were made regarding the adoption of a comprehensive confidentiality policy as well as for the sensitivity of the programme officer's post and for the rules for the allocation of the workload for the remote evaluators;

Takes note that in order to prevent conflicts of interest in respect to its Governing Board members, experts and employees, the Joint Undertaking has put in place specific measures which are included in the rules of procedure of both the Governing Board and the Scientific Committee, as well as in the documentation on the code of conduct and conflicts of interest in the case of independent experts during evaluation; notes furthermore that the Joint Undertaking has adopted an updated and comprehensive policy on conflicts of interest for both management and staff members in April 2013;

Notes from the Joint Undertaking's AAR that, in the framework of the second call for proposals, independent experts participated in the evaluation panels except for final assessment and without voting rights and that in addition the Executive Office of the Joint Undertaking invited independent observers to the two-stage evaluation process; calls on the Joint Undertaking to inform the discharge authority about the verification mechanisms that it implements to ensure the full independence of experts and observers and therefore to mitigate the risks of conflict of interests during the evaluation of tenders;
