I would also like to draw attention to the decision of outgoing President Yushchenko to confer the title of ‘National Hero of Ukraine’ on Stefan Bandera, and the decree recognising two nationalist organisations, the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, as participants in the fight for Ukraine’s independence.

I would like to say that it was an honour for the members of the Bloc Québécois to welcome Viktor Yushchenko, the President of Ukraine, here in the House yesterday.

I should also like to add that statements that have unfortunately been repeated in this House, to the effect that President Yushchenko’s supporters included chauvinists or nationalists, are lies and loathsome provocation, and it is a shame that Members of this House are prepared to be party to such provocation.
Je tiens également à ajouter que certaines déclarations - qui ont malheureusement été répétées au sein de cette Assemblée - affirmant que les partisans du président Iouchtchenko comptaient des chauvins ou des nationalistes ne sont que purs mensonges et provocations écœurantes et il est scandaleux que des membres de cette Assemblée soient disposés à soutenir une telle provocation.
