– (DE) Madam President, a guarantee of human rights, the promotion and development of democratic structures and combating corruption are the central demands of those taking to the streets in Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen – by peaceful means and in the hope of thereby achieving change, so that people in Maghreb and in the Arab world can assert their right to freedom of expression and freedom of the press, their right to free elections and their right to civil participation.
– (DE) Madame la Présidente, le respect des droits de l’homme, la promotion et le développement de structures démocratiques et la lutte contre la corruption sont les principales exigences des citoyens qui sont descendus dans les rues en Tunisie, en Égypte et au Yémen - par des moyens pacifiques et dans l’espoir d’obtenir ainsi un changement, afin que les peuples du Maghreb et du monde arabe puissent jouir de leur droit à la liberté d’expression et à la liberté de la presse, de leur droit à des élections libres et de leur droit à la participation civile.

After a visit to Morocco by Spanish parliamentarians the Moroccan Fisheries Minister Saïd Chabaâtou told the daily paper Maghreb Arab Press that his government was prepared to reopen fisheries negotiations with the European Union to allow fishing by the small-scale fleet.

- (ES) Monsieur le Président, au cours du mois de mars, la délégation pour les relations avec les pays du Maghreb et l'Union du Maghreb arabe, dont je suis vice-président, s'est rendue en Tunisie afin d'y effectuer une visite au cours de laquelle elle a pu constater que, malgré les indéniables progrès économiques, il existait un déficit démocratique sur le plan des libertés, en particulier dans le domaine de la presse et des médias audiovisuels.
