There has also been a substantial increase in the funding to provide institutional support for the Ministry of Fisheries (ECU 200 000 as against ECU 100 000 under the previous agreement) and maritime surveillance (ECU 800 000 as against ECU 200 000 under the previous agreement), all of which is welcomed by the Committee on Development and Cooperation. Also to be welcomed is the increase in the funding for small-scale fishing (from ECU 150 000 to ECU 300 000), an item which had been included for the first time in the agreement which expired in June;
