The Implementation Strategy for the new European Interoperability Framework reflects many of the recommendations made in previous Committee opinions and emphasises the growing need for urgent and coherent action by public administrations across the EU.

The European Commission publishes today a new European Interoperability Framework which will help European public administrations to coordinate their digitisation efforts when delivering public services.

On its side, to achieve this goal the Commission has proposed to pursue the successful IDABC programme by tabling a proposal for a new programme aimed to promote Interoperability Solutions for public Administrations (ISA) [15] and is pursuing its works to revise the European Interoperability Framework, aimed to define the general rules and principles for collaboration among the Member States' administrations and the EU Institutions [16].

3. In order to ensure interoperability between national and Union information systems, interoperability solutions shall be specified with reference to existing and new European standards or publicly available or open specifications for information exchange and service integration.

(5) In addition to offering optimal loading space within the framework of applicable European legislation, the new European intermodal loading unit should have the harmonised interoperability characteristics required for any new intermodal loading unit.
