Today the European Commission has stepped up its funding to improve living conditions for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Greece, with €115 million in new funding for humanitarian organisations operating in the country.

In addition to the new Fund, the use of innovative financial instruments (for example loans and guarantees, rather than grants) will be further promoted to increase the impact of the European Structural and Investment Funds for the period 2014-2020, with an objective of at least doubling the use of such instruments in the new programming period.
