– (EL) Mr President, every time we debate the problem of the Middle East following a statement by the High Representative, Mr Solana, I get the feeling that he is switching between the ordeals of Tantalus and Sisyphus, or even that his efforts are throwing water into the Danaids' jar on the one hand and on optimism on the other, an optimism that moves either in the realm of Utopia or in the realm of realism.
- (EN) Monsieur le Président, chaque fois que nous débattons du problème du Moyen-Orient après une déclaration du haut-représentant, M. Solana, j’ai l’impression qu’il passe du supplice de Tantale à celui de Sisyphe, voire qu’il verse de l’eau dans le tonneau des Danaïdes d’un côté et se laisse aller à l’optimisme de l’autre, un optimisme qui relève soit de l’utopie, soit du réalisme.
