An Act to amend certain legislation concerning the financing of political parties and concerning municipal elections

IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

23. Calls on the Member States to examine whether recent reports concerning financing from Russian banks and individuals to extreme right and extreme left political parties inside the EU constitute a violation of party financing legislation, and calls for a vigorous debate on the risks and challenges posed by this type of financial support and on whether current party finance legislation is fully adequate in light of these revelations;

Subject to Articles 6 and 7, where a person compulsorily insured under the legislation of one Party, and employed by an employer with a place of business in the territory of that Party, is sent by that employer, either from the territory of that Party, or from a third country not party to this Convention, to work in the territory of the other Party, the legislation of the former Party concerning liability for contributions shall, in respect of that employment, continue to apply to him or her as if he or she were employed in the territory of that Party, provided that the employment in the territory of the other Party is not expected to last for more than five years, and the legislation of the latter Party shall not apply to him or her.

49. Regrets that only the EU is taking the lead on international climate policy, that the US is the world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases and that there is accordingly still a need to urge it, at all policy levels, to assume its responsibilities in terms of climate change; regrets therefore that the US Administration remains so reluctant to enter into any meaningful international partnership on climate change, but notes that it has taken a modest step forward, inasmuch as it is now willing, as agreed at the December 2005 Montreal Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to engage in a thorough forward-looking dialogue; welcomes the fact that an emerging coalition of interests in the US, including Members of Congress from both Houses and both parties, State legislators, local authorities, NGOs and representatives of the business community, is pushing for a more ambitious agenda to tackle greenhouse gas emissions;
49. déplore que l'Union européenne soit la seule entité à prendre l'initiative dans le domaine de la politique internationale du climat; considère que, les États-Unis étant le plus gros pollueur mondial au niveau des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, il convient de continuer à s'employer, à tous les niveaux politiques, pour qu'ils assument, eux aussi, leur responsabilité en matière de changement climatique; regrette dès lors que le gouvernement des États-Unis reste toujours aussi réticent à adhérer à tout partenariat international efficace concernant le changement climatique, tout en relevant qu'elle a fait un modeste pas en avant, en se montrant désormais disposée, comme elle l'a accepté lors de la conférence sur la Convention-cadre des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques de décembre 2005 à Montréal, à entamer un dialogue ouvert approfondi; se félicite de ce qu'aux États-Unis, une nouvelle coalition d'intérêts regroupant des membres du Congrès des deux Chambres et des deux partis, des législateurs, des autorités locales, des ONG ainsi que de nombreux représentants du monde de l'entreprise, fassent à présent pression pour faire passer un calendrier plus ambitieux de lutte contre les émissions à effet de serre;

5. Regrets the fact that the US Administration is still so reluctant to enter into any meaningful international partnership on climate change, but notes that, at least, it did not stand in the way of agreement at Montreal; welcomes also the greater emphasis now being placed on fighting climate change by many key actors in American society, including Members of Congress from both Houses and both parties, state legislators, mayors, NGOs and many in the business community;
5. regrette que l'administration des États-Unis soit toujours si réticente à adhérer à tout partenariat international efficace concernant le changement climatique, tout en relevant qu'elle ne s'est pas opposée à la conclusion d'un accord à Montréal; se félicite de l'importance accrue accordée à la lutte contre le changement climatique par de nombreux acteurs essentiels de la société américaine, y compris les membres du Congrès des deux Chambres et des deux partis, des législateurs, des maires, des ONG ainsi que de nombreux acteurs du monde de l'entreprise;
