Some of you have, of course, mentioned Russia as the other important partner in these developments, and in that connection I am pleased to inform you that we as presidency will, of course, maintain the very close contacts with Russia and that Mr Balkenende, in his capacity as President of the European Council, phoned Mr Putin again today and that both have concluded on a positive note that there is only one way forward, namely the peaceful solution within the legal framework by means of dialogue.
Certains d’entre vous ont souligné le fait que la Russie était un partenaire important dans l’évolution de la situation et, sur cet aspect, je me réjouis de vous informer que la présidence du Conseil entretiendra, bien sûr, des relations très étroites avec la Russie et que M. Balkenende, en tant que président du Conseil européen, a téléphoné aujourd’hui encore à M. Poutine et tous deux ont conclu sur une note positive indiquant qu’il n’y avait qu’une seule façon d’avancer et qu’elle consistait en une solution pacifique, dans un cadre légal, par le biais du dialogue.
