Council presidency initiatives were supported through two conferences. The Summit “Health Inequalities, Governing for Health” which took place in October as part of the United Kingdom Presidency and a conference on the prevention of type 2 Diabetes to take place during the Austrian Presidency in 2006.

With a view to giving an impetus to this process the Danish Presidency initiated a discussion on the EU Action Plan on Drugs and its mid-term evaluation during an informal Council of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers held in September 2002.
