In addition to promoting best practices, such as the Integrated Border Enforcement Teams, the forum has created a mechanism whereby the grassroots level through its partnerships with Project North Star — which is an association of police officers running across the Canada-U.S. border from coast to coast — can raise operational impediments and obstacles faced in the day-to-day operations to the policy and legal realms for resolution.
