The bomb episode, the bigoted remarks of the Whip of the Reform Party on Tuesday, so eloquently refuted by Senator Oliver yesterday, and the waning commitment in my province in the human rights field, as exhibited by the refusal of the Alberta government to support the Human Rights Commission in that province, are all too frequent reminders of the declining commitment in our nation to the plight of our minorities, and the fact that there are many problems out there that need attention.
L'épisode de la bombe, les remarques sectaires que le whip du Parti réformiste a formulées mardi - et que le sénateur Oliver a réfutées si éloquemment hier - et l'engagement chancelant de ma province à l'égard des droits de la personne, comme on a pu le constater quand le gouvernement de l'Alberta a refusé son soutien à la Commission albertaine des droits de la personne, sont autant de rappels trop courants de notre volonté fléchissante, en tant que nation, de soulager la détresse de nos minorités et de nous soucier des nombreux problèmes qui méritent notre attention dans le monde.
