Although there has been some progress in the context of Director and Principal Adviser recruitments (7 have so far been nominated), with more than 2400 applications examined and more than 260 interviews held, the recruitment process has been slow. The efforts of the Commission will therefore have to be further increased, speeding up the publication of functions and the recruitment process in order to meet the targets for 2004 and 2005.
