Although the justifications for a block exemption for liner consortia are still valid, Regulation 906/2009 ensures a greater convergence with other existing block exemption regulations for horizontal cooperation whilst taking into account current market practices in the liner industry.

97. Underlines the need to limit, as appropriate, the market share of maritime consortia of container lines and to share operational advantages – for both maritime and hinterland services – in accordance with the general EU rules on fair competition and subject to the conditions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 906/2009 concerning the application of Article 101(3) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union; stresses, furthermore, the need to ensure operational cooperation with a view to the joint provision of liner shipping services by shipping companies, in order to safeguard the efficiency and quality of shipping services;
97. insiste sur la nécessité de limiter, de façon adéquate, la part du marché des consortiums de compagnies maritimes de transport de conteneurs et de répartir les avantages opérationnels – tant pour les services maritimes que pour les services dans l'hinterland –, conformément à la réglementation générale de l'Union européenne sur la concurrence loyale et sous réserve des conditions prévues par le règlement (CE) n° 906/2009 concernant l'application de l'article 101, paragraphe 3, du traité FUE; souligne également la nécessité d'assurer la coopération opérationnelle en vue de la prestation en commun de services de transport maritime de ligne entre compagnies maritimes afin de préserver l'efficacité et la qualité des services maritimes;

22.
