22. Reiterates the importance of promoting, protecting and implementing human rights and fundamental freedoms at all levels of Serbian society, with no discrimination in any form and in accordance with European and international standards; notes that an action plan for the implementation of the anti-discrimination strategy was adopted on 2 October 2014, calling for respect for women, persons with disabilities, LGBT persons, and all minorities, national, ethnic or sexual, and for the securing of their rights; encourages the Serbian authorities to make further efforts to guarantee equal representation of women in political and public life; notes that administrative capacity in the field of gender equality remains weak, and urges the Serbian authorities to increase their efforts to this end; welcomes the decision by the Government of Serbia to allow the organisation of the Pride Parade, which took place in Belgrade on 28 September 2014 without major incidents, and commends the government for their support and also the police for the facilitation thereof;

Recognises women as important agents for change in Serbian society; notes the improvement of women’s representation in the parliament following the 2012 election; encourages the Serbian authorities to make further efforts to guarantee equal representation; underlines the fact that women still face discrimination on the labour market and in other sectors of society and that they are not yet fully represented in the political life of the country, including in governmental positions; underlines the fact that the effective implementation of the existing legislation on non-discrimination and gender equality and the further strengthening of administrative capacity are still major challenges, urges the Serbian authorities to increase their efforts to address these issues;

The European integration process will also from now on become increasingly tangible for the administration, civil society, business people, students, researchers and for Serbian society at large, truly for all citizens of Serbia, in many aspects of their daily lives". commissioner Füle said.

Recognises women as important agents for change in Serbian society; notes the improvement in women’s representation in the Serbian Parliament following the 2012 elections; welcomes the fact that 84 out of 250 parliamentary seats went to women; however, encourages the Serbian authorities to make further efforts to guarantee equal representation; stresses that women still face discrimination on the labour market and in other sectors of society, and that they are not yet fully represented in the political life of the country, including governmental positions; is concerned that although both legislation and implementation bodies are in place as regards both anti-discrimination and gender equality, no progress could be reported on equality of opportunity between women and men; notes that effective implementation of the existing legislation and further strengthening of administrative capacity remain major challenges, and urges the Serbian authorities to step up their efforts to this end;

On the transfer of memory, our four Canadian organizations—the Association of Serbian Women, the Centre for Peace in the Balkans, the Ottawa Serbian Heritage Society, and the Serbian National Shield Society—support the establishment of an exhibit in the Canadian Museum of Civilization and/or a genocide museum to record the genocides of the 20th century, because history has been written by the victors, and it's important to speak for the silenced voices of the victims.

Because so many nations historically, going back to the ages of the Greeks and the Romans and even before, have been guilty of one form of ethnic cleansing or another, after the war the Serbians, Serbian Canadians and Kosovars can at least appreciate that nothing has happened in Kosovo, however horrible, that is any different than what has been going on in nations and societies across the world since the beginning of recorded history.
