According to Article 39(2) of the Treaty, in working out the CAP and the special methods for its application, account has to be taken of the particular nature of agricultural activity, which results from the social structure of agriculture and from structural and natural disparities between the various agricultural regions, the need to effect the appropriate adjustments by degrees and the fact that agriculture constitutes a sector closely linked with the economy as a whole.
Conformément à l’article 39, paragraphe 2, du traité, dans l'élaboration de la politique agricole commune et des méthodes spéciales qu'elle peut impliquer, il convient de tenir compte du caractère particulier de l'activité agricole, découlant de la structure sociale de l'agriculture et des disparités structurelles et naturelles entre les diverses régions agricoles, de la nécessité d'opérer graduellement les ajustements opportuns, et du fait que l’agriculture constitue un secteur intimement lié à l'ensemble de l’économie.

Under Article 33(2)(a) of the Treaty establishing the European Community, the common agricultural policy (CAP) is to take account of the particular nature of agricultural activity, which results from the social structure of agriculture and from structural and natural disparities between the various agricultural regions.

According to the Treaty, in working out the common agricultural policy and the special methods for its application, account is to be taken of the particular nature of agricultural activity which results from the social structure of agriculture and from structural and natural disparities between the various rural areas.
