When we talk about how we should reform agricultural policy in Europe, as the Commission recently proposed, in order thereby to bring agricultural policy closer to the public, and in this case, closer to the taxpayers – something to which Mrs Schierhuber, a farmer herself, referred, and on which point I wish to give her my support – we have to distance ourselves from such quibbles about what is control, and what is directed against fraud.
Si nous voulons discuter de la nécessité de réformer la politique agricole en Europe, comme l'a récemment proposé la Commission, afin de rapprocher la politique agricole des agriculteurs et, en l'occurrence, des contribuables - notre collègue Schierhuber a fort pertinemment attiré l'attention sur le sujet en sa qualité d'agricultrice et je tiens à lui manifester mon soutien à ce propos - nous devons absolument renoncer à ces ergotages sur ce qui ressort du contrôle et de la lutte contre la fraude.
