Definition: This category differs from others in that it includes disorders identifiable on the basis of not only symptoms and course but also the existence of one or other of two causative influences: an exceptionally stressful life event producing an acute stress reaction, or a significant life change leading to continued unpleasant circumstances that result in an adjustment disorder. Although less severe psychosocial stress ( life events ) may precipitate the onset or contribute to the presentation of a very wide range of disorders classified elsewhere in this chapter, its etiological importance is not always clear and in each case will be found to depend on individual, often idiosyncratic, vulnerability, i.e. the life events are neither necessary nor sufficient to explain the occurrence and form of the disorder. In contrast, the disorders brought together here are thought to arise always as a direct consequence of acute severe stress or continued trauma. The stressful events or the continuing unpleasant circumstances are the primary and overriding causal factor and the disorder would not have occurred without their impact. The disorders in this section can thus be regarded as maladaptive responses to severe or continued stress, in that they interfere with successful coping mechanisms and therefore lead to problems of social functioning.

" (3) No Minister of the Crown shall propose a constitutional amendment to effect the secession of a province from Canada unless the amendment provides that, where there has been a clear expression of a will by the population of a municipality in the province, who have cast fifty percent plus one vote of the votes cast in a referendum in the municipality, that the province not cease to be part of Canada, the territory of that municipality shall continue to be part of Canada if (i) the territory of the municipality is immediately adjacent to the territory of another province; or (ii) the territory of the municipality is part of an unbroken chain of municipal territories in each of which there has been a clear expression of a will by the population of each municipality, who have cast fifty percent plus one vote of the votes cast in a referendum in the municipality, that the province not cease to be part of Canada, and the territory of at least one of the municipalities is immediately adjacent to the territory of another province" .
« (3) Aucun ministre ne peut proposer de modification constitutionnelle portant sécession d'une province du Canada à moins que celle-ci n'indique que lorsque la population d'une municipalité a déclaré dans une proportion d'au moins cinquante pour cent plus une des voix exprimées au référendum dans la municipalité qu'elle ne veut pas que la province cesse de faire partie du Canada, le territoire de cette municipalité continue de faire partie du Canada dans la mesure où l'une ou l'autre des conditions suivantes s'appliquent: i) le territoire de la municipalité est contigu avec le territoire d'une autre province; ii) le territoire de la municipalité fait partie d'une succession ininterrompue de territoires municipaux dont la population de chacune de ces municipalités a déclaré dans une proportion d'au moins cinquante pour cent plus une des voix exprimées au référendum dans la municipalité qu'elle ne veut pas que la province cesse de faire partie du Canada, et le territoire d'au moins une de ces municipalités est contigu avec le territoire d'une autre province" .
