We in this European Parliament – and I see that Mr Prodi is here, to whom we, as a rule, gave our support, even though that was sometimes very difficult – have a great interest in the stability of the European institutions, and so I appeal to everyone, now that we have taken this decision today, to vote on Thursday for José Manuel Durão Barroso and thereby to demonstrate that we seek stability for the European Commission too.
Au sein de ce Parlement européen - et je vois que M. Prodi est ici et, en général, celui-ci a toujours bénéficié de notre soutien même si parfois ce fut très difficile -, nous avons tout intérêt à privilégier la stabilité des institutions européennes. Je demande donc à chacun, maintenant que nous avons pris cette décision aujourd'hui, de voter jeudi pour José Manuel Durão Barroso et de prouver ainsi que nous recherchons la stabilité pour la Commission européenne également.
