Obviously, this is a tragic situation because someone got killed, but it is also tragic because on August 31, 2000, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation advised its employees that in the future, there would not be three employees but only two employees beginning in the year 2001 to man all the different locks along the St. Lawrence Seaway, for instance in the Maisonneuve, Niagara, Iroquois regions and the entire southern area, northern area and central area.
La situation est évidemment tragique parce que quelqu'un est décédé, mais l'est aussi par le fait que le 31 août 2000, la Corporation de gestion de la voie maritime du Saint-Laurent avisait ses employés qu'à l'avenir, il n'y aurait pas trois employés, mais bien deux employés qui, à compter de l'année 2001, travailleraient dans toutes les différentes écluses longeant la voie maritime du Saint-Laurent, par exemple dans la région de Maisonneuve, du Niagara, d'Iroquois, toute la southern area, la northern area et la central area.
