On 30 November the Belgian Government made a request to the Commission under Article 22 of the Merger Control Regulation, asking it to find that even though the thresholds were not reached the merger would nevertheless significantly impede competition on Belgian territory, and specifically in air travel between Belgium and the United Kingdom.
