Ceci étant dit, d’après ce que j’ai entendu ces derniers jours, il me semble que nous - la Commission, mon gouvernement et une écrasante majorité au Conseil et dans cette Assemblée - convenons qu’il est primordial de concevoir des instruments législatifs européens permettant de garantir la participation de l’industrie automobile européenne à hauteur d’une contribution de 120 grammes par kilomètre.

This is understandable, because trade agreements concern legal rules that are binding among the States, whereas corporate social responsibility concerns voluntary commitments by undertakings. At the same time, however, it is paradoxical, because CSR and the social and environmental clauses pull in the same direction, namely, towards globalisation which is more respectful of human rights and the environment and which is conducive to sustainable development.
C’est à la fois compréhensible, parce que les accords de commerce concernent des règles juridiques contraignantes entre les États alors que la responsabilité sociale des entreprises concerne des engagements volontaires des entreprises, mais en même temps, c’est paradoxal, parce que la RSE et les clauses sociales et environnementales poussent dans la même direction, c’est-à-dire celle d’une mondialisation plus conforme aux droits humains, à l’environnement et au développement durable.
