WHEREAS the proper constitutional role of the Attorney General of Canada, as the Law Officer of the Crown, is no longer widely understood, and it has become necessary to clarify the proper constitutional relationship of the Attorney General to the courts, to the Cabinet and to Parliament; WHEREAS the Department of Justice Act and the Supreme Court Act with respect to the role of the Attorney General of Canada have both lagged behind the current legal and practical realities of the Charter era and Charter litigation, and it has become necessary that these two Acts be modernized in order to meet these contemporary political, legal and social realities; WHEREAS the constitutional requirement in the Department of Justice Act that the Attorney General of Canada's stance on policy questions be harmonious with Parliament is no longer widely known or understood, and it has become necessary that the Department of Justice Act should expressly confirm this important constitutional doctrine and the related principles;

whereas the number of pesticide active substances was reduced by 70 % between 1993 and 2009, while the presence of pest outbreaks has increased in the European Union; whereas the approvals process, including the criteria for defining active substances and for new substances constituting an alternative to plant protection products, is becoming increasingly challenging for EU agriculture and its citizens; whereas there is a need to urgently address the lack of active substances for minor uses.

whereas the entry of more women into the ICT sector would boost a market in which labour shortages are foreseen and in which equal participation of women would lead to a gain of around EUR 9 billion EU GDP each year; whereas women remain heavily underrepresented in ICT degree programmes, where they constitute only around 20 % of graduates in the field, with only 3 % of all female graduates having a degree in ICT; whereas women face numerous difficulties in integrating into and staying in the ICT sector; whereas the male-dominated working environment, with only 30 % of the workforce being female, contributes to the trend of many women leaving the ICT sector within a few years of completing their university degrees.

Whereas, when restrictions on the activities of credit institutions are eliminated, consideration should be given to the situation which might arise if deposits in a credit institution that has branches in other Member States become unavailable; whereas it is indispensable to ensure a harmonized minimum level of deposit protection wherever deposits are located in the Community; whereas such deposit protection is as essential as the prudential rules for the completion of the single banking market.

Whereas many questions concerning the events preceding, during and after the fatal shooting of Anthony Dudley George on September 6, 1995 at Ipperwash provincial park, where over 200 armed officers were sent to control 25 unarmed men and women, have not been answered, and whereas the Constitution of Canada requires that Canada protect Indians and Indian lands, the undersigned petition the House of Commons that a full public inquiry be held into the events surrounding the fatal shooting of Dudley George on September 6, 1995 to eliminate all misconceptions held by and about governments, the OPP and the Stony Point people.
Attendu que beaucoup de questions sont restées sans réponse au sujet des événements survenus avant, pendant et après la mort d'Anthony Dudley George, tué d'une balle le 6 septembre 1995 au parc provincial d'Ipperwash, où l'on avait envoyé 200 policiers armés pour maîtriser 25 hommes et femmes sans armes, et attendu que la Constitution du Canada exige que le Canada protège les Indiens et les terres indiennes, nous soussignés demandons à la Chambre des communes d'appuyer la tenue d'une enquête publique sur les événements entourant la fusillade du 6 septembre 1995, de manière à éliminer tout malentendu de la part et à l'égard des gouvernements, de la Police provinciale de l'Ontario et de la population de Stoney Point.
