When I go to the World Crafts Council, where I represent the Canadian Crafts Federation, which it is now called, the countries there look to me and ask me about what is happening federally, and I feel rather ashamed—that's a strong word, but it is the fact—that I have to say my federal government, Canada, does not support the Canadian crafts people in the way they used to do, or in the way they should be doing.
Lorsque je me présente au Conseil mondial de l'artisanat, là où je représente la Fédération canadienne des métiers d'art, comme on l'appelle maintenant, et que des pays me demandent ce qui se passe au niveau fédéral, j'ai assez honte—le mot est fort, mais c'est un fait—d'avoir à dire que mon gouvernement fédéral, dans mon pays le Canada, n'apporte plus son soutien aux artisans canadiens comme il avait l'habitude de le faire ou comme il devrait le faire.
