The European Union expresses its preoccupation at the continuing human rights violations in the North Caucasus and the worsening of the situation of human rights defenders in the region, as also noted in Dick Marty´s (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) report on the human rights violations in the North Caucasus, one year after the assassination of Mrs Natalia Estemirova of the Non-Governmental Organisation Memorial.
L'Union européenne se déclare préoccupée par les violations des droits de l'homme qui continuent d'être perpétrées dans le Caucase du Nord et par l'aggravation de la situation des défenseurs des droits de l'homme dans la région, dont il est également fait état dans le rapport de M. Emphasises once again the importance of making the handbook for the implementation of the Guidelines available to human rights defenders on the ground; encourages COHOM to disseminate translations of the European Union Guidelines for Human Rights Defenders in European Union languages that are the lingua franca in third countries and in key non-European Union languages amongst regional desks and embassies/delegations; welcomes the fact that, so far, translations are available in languages such as Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Farsi but stresses that more translations need to be produced locally; urges European Union Member States to simplify the issue of visas to human rights defenders who are invited to attend events organised within the European Union or who are fleeing worsening security conditions;
souligne une fois encore qu'il est important de mettre le manuel de mise en œuvre des lignes directrices à la disposition des défenseurs des Droits de l'homme sur le terrain; encourage le COHOM à diffuser des traductions des lignes directrices de l'Union européenne à l'intention des défenseurs des Droits de l'homme dans les langues de l'Union qui constituent la langue véhiculaire dans des pays tiers, ainsi que dans des langues majeures autres que celles de l'Union, parmi les bureaux régionaux et les ambassades ou délégations; se réjouit qu'à présent, des traductions soient disponibles en certaines langues, comme le russe, l'arabe, le chinois ou le persan, mais souligne qu'il est nécessaire de faire localement davantage de traductions; presse les États membres de l'Union de simplifier les formalités d'octroi de visas aux défenseurs des Droits de l'homme invités à assister à des événements organisés dans l'Union ou fuyant du fait de conditions de sécurité qui empirent.

The EU remains deeply concerned at the suffering being inflicted on the Sudanese people by the continuing civil war and the ever worsening human- rights situation in Sudan.
L'UE reste très vivement préoccupée par les souffrances que subit la population soudanaise du fait de la poursuite de la guerre civile et de la détérioration continue de la situation des droits de l'homme au Soudan.
