I am sorry I cannot respond to all of you personally, from the first contribution by Mrs Wortmann-Kool to the last one by Mr Grzyb, and also the 15 additional speeches we have heard. Allow me, however, to say a few more words following my opening speech.
Je suis désolée de ne pas avoir la possibilité de répondre personnellement à chacun d’entre vous, de la première contribution, celle de M Wortmann-Kool, à la dernière, celle de M. Grzyb, ainsi qu’aux 15 autres interventions que nous avons entendues. Permettez-moi cependant de prononcer quelques paroles supplémentaires à la suite de mon allocation inaugurale.

All this is necessary if the compromise is to be meaningful and if European public opinion is in future to feel much better protected against all the marine pollution, to the extremely disastrous effects of which on our natural heritage and all the wealth of the sea Mrs Wortmann-Kool has drawn our attention.
Tout cela est nécessaire pour que le compromis ait un sens et pour que l’opinion publique européenne se sente désormais beaucoup mieux protégée contre toutes ces pollutions maritimes dont Mme le rapporteur a montré les effets extrêmement désastreux sur notre patrimoine naturel et sur toutes les richesses de la mer.
