J. whereas civil-law notaries take on extensive investigation and scrutiny work on behalf of the State in matters relating to non-judicial legal protection, particularly in connection with company law – under Community law in some cases – and as part of this work they are subject to disciplinary supervision by the relevant Member State that is comparable to that applicable to judges and civil servants,
J. overwegende dat civielrechtelijke notarissen, die namens de staat een groot aantal taken op het gebied van onderzoek en controle vervullen in kwesties met betrekking tot de buitengerechtelijke rechtsbescherming, voornamelijk in het kader van het vennootschapsrecht en in sommige gevallen in dat van het communautaire recht, in het kader van deze taken onderworpen zijn aan een disciplinair toezicht van de betrokken lidstaat, vergelijkbaar met het toezicht van toepassing op rechters en overheidsbeambten,

2. For the purposes of this Decision, ‘legal practitioners’ shall mean judges, prosecutors, advocates, solicitors, notaries, academic and scientific personnel, ministry officials, court officers, bailiffs, court interpreters and other professionals associated with the judiciary in the area of civil law.
2. Voor de toepassing van dit besluit worden beschouwd als beoefenaars van juridische beroepen onder meer: rechters, leden van het openbaar ministerie, advocaten, procureurs, notarissen, academisch en wetenschappelijk personeel, departementale ambtenaren, gerechtsmedewerkers, gerechtsdeurwaarders, gerechtstolken en leden van andere bij de burgerlijke rechtspleging betrokken beroepsgroepen.
