The Council adopted a decision establishing the position to be adopted on behalf of the European Union, at the next three meetings of the International Whaling Commission, with regard to proposals for amendments to the International Convention on the Regulation of Whaling and its Schedule.

With regard to the compatibility of the regulation with the Montreal Convention, the Court of Justice establishes that this international Convention, which regulates, amongst other things, the liability of air carriers in the event of delay, binds the Community.

The further work of the Council's bodies will focus in particular on the delimitation of the scope of the Regulation, the application of international conventions on the global limitation of liability simultaneously to the Athens Convention, the delayed entry into force in relation to carriage by sea within a single Member State and the adaptation of the Regulation in the case of amendments to the Athens Convention and/or the International Maritime Organisation.
