TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

1. For the purposes of this Directive, "original work of art" means works of graphic or plastic art such as pictures, collages, paintings, drawings, engravings, prints, lithographs, sculptures, tapestries, ceramics, glassware and photographs, provided they are made by the artist himself or are copies considered to be original works of art.

2. For the purposes of heading No , the expression "original engravings, prints and lithographs" means impressions produced directly, in black and white or in colour, of one or of several plates wholly executed by hand by the artist, irrespective of the process or of the material employed by him, but not including any mechanical or photomechanical process.

The proposal would harmonise the type of works covered by the right (pictures, collages, paintings, drawings, engravings, prints, lithographs, sculptures, tapestries, ceramics and photographic works), the transactions giving rise to payment (sale of a work other than the first transfer of the work by the artist and sales between private individuals), the minimum threshold sales price, the rate of the resale right and other details of payment.
