MACRO-ECONOMIC STRATEGY The macro-economic strategy should have the following components: - continued consolidation of public finances by Member States; - agreement among the social partners on wage developments consistent with price stability and the need to stimulate investment and consumption; - where budgetary and wage developments are not in contradiction with the stability objective, monetary policy should contribute to sustaining general economic policies in line with Article 105(1) of the Treaty; - strengthened co-ordination at the Community level in the framework of the multilateral surveillance procedure.
