The stressor may have affected the integrity of an individual's social network (bereavement, separation experiences) or the wider system of social supports and values (migration, refugee status), or represented a major developmental transition or crisis (going to school, becoming a parent, failure to attain a cherished personal goal, retirement). Individual predisposition or vulnerability plays an important role in the risk of occurrence and the shaping of the manifestations of adjustment disorders, but it is nevertheless assumed that the condition would not have arisen without the stressor. The manifestations vary and include depressed mood, anxiety or worry (or mixture of these), a feeling of inability to cope, plan ahead, or continue in the present situation, as well as some degree of disability in 9the performance of daily routine. 112. Calls for the EU to pay particular attention to discrimination based on forms of social stratification, such as caste and analogous systems of inherited status, which have a seriously harmful and sometimes destructive impact on the prospects for equal enjoyment of human rights; considers that those countries where a caste system still exists should be urged to prohibit it and ensure that laws against the caste system are genuinely implemented;
112. dringt er bij de EU op aan bijzondere aandacht te besteden aan vormen van maatschappelijke gelaagdheid, zoals het kastenstelsel en soortgelijke stelsels van geërfde status, die een zeer schadelijk en soms destructief effect hebben op de vooruitzichten met betrekking tot het genieten van gelijke mensenrechten; is van mening dat er bij de landen waar het kastenstelsel nog steeds bestaat krachtig op aangedrongen moet worden dat dit verboden wordt en dat wetten die een einde moeten maken aan het kastenstelsel ook echt worden uitgevoerd;

A. whereas caste denotes a socio-religious context, as in Asia, where those who fall outside the caste system are considered ‘impure’ and ‘untouchable’ by nature, but also, more broadly, a system of rigid social stratification into ranked groups defined by descent and occupation; whereas discrimination based on work and descent, being the more encompassing term preferred by the UN, is a form of discrimination prohibited by international human rights law as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the CERD, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and International Labour Organisation Convention No 111;

In my view, this initiative will prevent social stratification in Europe in the area of access to digital services, as well as the marginalisation of social groups threatened by less access to modern technology.
Naar mijn mening zal dit initiatief sociale stratificatie in Europa voorkomen op het gebied van toegang tot digitale diensten en ook de marginalisering van sociale groepen die bedreigd worden door minder toegang tot moderne technologie.
