TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

a. Develop capacity and knowledge on the implementation of Business and Human Rights guidelines, in particular as regards the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles (UNGPs) and other tools/initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the UNGPs; strengthen the role and expertise of DELs in this context; raise awareness on the UNGPs and corporate social responsibility in external action and policy dialogue and proactively engage with business, civil society, National Human Rights Institutions, partner governments and regional organisations on issues related to business and human rights, as regards both civil and political rights and economic, cultural and social rights.

Ontwikkelen van capaciteit en kennis over de uitvoering van de richtsnoeren inzake bedrijfsleven en mensenrechten, meer bepaald betreffende de uitvoering van de leidende beginselen van de VN en andere instrumenten/initiatieven die daartoe bijdragen. The right to equality before the law and protection against discrimination for all persons constitutes a universal right recognised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, the International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, the United Nations Covenants on Civil and Political Rights and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the European Social Charter, to which [all] Member States are signatories.
2. On 3 May 2011 a workshop was held on important societal issues in the food supply chain, and gave rise to a constructive debate on the role of corporate social responsibility and on the United Nations framework on business and human rights.

Notes the first annual Forum on Business and Human Rights held in Geneva from 4 to 6 December 2012, which brought together a broad range of stakeholders to discuss the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles in this area; supports the Forum’s initial consultations on how governments and business can be made to adopt regulatory, policy and implementation frameworks to counter business-related human rights abuses;
40. neemt nota van het eerste jaarlijkse Forum over bedrijfsleven en mensenrechten van 4 tot 6 december 2012 in Genève, waar een breed scala aan belanghebbenden bijeen is gekomen om over de uitvoering van de VN-richtsnoeren op dit gebied te discussiëren; steunt het initiële overleg tijdens het Forum over de vraag hoe ervoor kan worden gezorgd dat regeringen en bedrijven regelgevings-, beleids- en uitvoeringskaders vaststellen om mensenrechtenschendingen in verband met zakelijke transacties tegen te gaan;

The Union’s report also sets out the particularly active role of the European Union in the competent international forums on human rights, that is to say, in the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly or the Human Rights Council.

B. whereas the United Nations Commission on Human Rights is the ideal forum for debating human rights within the United Nations framework; whereas violations of human rights in certain countries is the legitimate concern of that body,

(4) The right of all persons to equality before the law and protection against discrimination constitutes a universal right recognised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, United Nations Covenants on Civil and Political Rights and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, to which all Member States are signatories. Convention No 111 of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) prohibits discrimination in the field of employment and occupation.
