As a founder of the European Union, France and its president, Nicolas Sarkozy, have the task to pool the efforts of all twenty-seven member states together again, and come up with a legal formula and an action plan to find a way out of the Lisbon crisis because unless we overcome it, we run the risk of centrifugal and nationalistic passions taking the upper hand and putting a freeze on the process of further enlargement of the European Union.
Als een van de oprichters van de Europese Unie heeft Frankrijk en met name zijn president Nicolas Sarkozy de taak om de inspanningen van alle 27 lidstaten opnieuw te bundelen en een juridische formulering en een actieplan te vinden dat een uitweg biedt uit de Lissaboncrisis, want als we die niet oplossen lopen we het risico dat centrifugale en nationalistische gevoelens de overhand krijgen en het proces van verdere uitbreiding van de Europese Unie tot staan brengen.
