The final subparagraph of Article 15(7) of Protocol No 3 to the Euro-Mediterranean Interim Association Agreement on trade and cooperation between the European Community, of the one part, and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) for the benefit of the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of the other part, concerning the definition of the concept of ‘originating products’ and methods of administrative cooperation is replaced by the following text:
Artikel 15, lid 7, laatste alinea, van Protocol nr. 3 bij de Euro-mediterrane Interim-associatieovereenkomst voor handel en samenwerking tussen de Europese Gemeenschap, enerzijds, en de Palestijnse Bevrijdingsorganisatie (PLO) ten behoeve van de Palestijnse Autoriteit van de Westelijke Jordaanoever en de Gazastrook, anderzijds, betreffende de definitie van het begrip „producten van oorsprong” en methoden van administratieve samenwerking wordt vervangen door de volgende tekst:

Article 15(7) of Protocol No 3 to the Euro-Mediterranean Interim Association Agreement on trade and cooperation between the European Community, of the one part, and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) for the benefit of the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of the other part (1), (‘the Agreement’), as amended by Decision No 1/2009 of the EU-PLO Joint Committee of 24 June 2009 (2), allows drawback of, or partial exemption from, customs duties or charges with equivalent effect, subject to certain conditions, until 31 December 2009.

Article 12 of the Euro-Mediterranean Interim Association Agreement on trade and cooperation between the European Community, of the one part, and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) for the benefit of the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (1) (hereinafter the Palestinian Authority), of the other part, in force since 1 July 1997 and hereinafter referred to as the Interim Association Agreement, states that the Community and the Palestinian Authority shall progressively establish a greater liberalisation, inter alia, of their trade in agricultural products.

However, the Agreement needs to be updated to reflect the new political and security provisions of the revised Cotonou Agreement, further trade liberalisation, cooperation in trade-related areas, strengthening the environmental dimension, and updated wording for some of the articles on economic and other areas of cooperation.
De overeenkomst moet echter wel worden afgestemd op de nieuwe politieke en veiligheidsbepalingen van de herziene overeenkomst van Cotonou, verdere handelsliberalisering, samenwerking op handelsgerelateerde gebieden, versterking van de milieudimensie, en aanpassing van de formulering van enkele artikelen over economische en andere vormen van samenwerking.
