A dedicated Committee involving Member States of the EU and of the Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine (CCNR), will associate the Commission and be open to the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE), the River Commissions, as well as to key stakeholders, including the European social partners.

Notes with interest that the Presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement for the establishment of a central integration body for the three countries, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on the 18 November 2011, a step in establishing the Common Economic Space (CES), known as well as the Eurasian Economic Union;

This could include enhanced surveillance missions to Member States by the Commission, in liaison with the European Central Bank (ECB) for Member States whose currency is the euro or Member States participating in the Agreement of 16 March 2006 between the European Central Bank and the national central banks of the Member States outside the euro area laying down the operating procedures for an exchange rate mechanism in stage three of Economic and Monetary Union (ERM II), and additional reporting by Member States in case of severe imbalances, including imbalances that jeopardise the proper functioning of the economic and monetary union.

(3) An up-to-date classification as NACE Rev. 2 is central to Commission’s ongoing efforts to overhauling Community statistics; it is expected to convey, through more comparable and relevant data, a better economic governance at EC and national levels.
