This Action Plan will enable exchange of experience in the key areas of policy on the use of information and communication technology for education and training to be strengthened, e.g.: financing of infrastructure, equipment and network access; training strategies; support for the development of quality content and services; evaluation methods; monitoring of developments and forward studies.

Considers it necessary for the Structural Funds, programmes for SMEs and the Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007-2013) to give pride of place to development and allocate sufficient funding for the cultural and creative industries, including SMEs and individual artistic undertakings in the field, and repeats its request that the Commission put forward a study on the impact of funding from the Structural Funds, and the Seventh Framework Programme, for the cultural and educational sectors;

12. Emphasises that information and communication technologies (ICTs) should be promoted as a key element in driving forward energy saving in various sectors such as transport, construction, energy and manufacturing; in this context, welcomes the Commission's study to assess the potential contribution of various leading-edge technologies based on ICTs to improving the energy efficiency of the EU economy and reducing green house gas emissions by 2020; urges the Commission to include intelligent management systems in general, and smart grid technologies and embedded systems in particular, in the matters covered by that study;
12. benadrukt dat informatie- en communicatietechnologieën (ICT) moeten worden gepromoot als een sleutelelement voor het stimuleren van energiebesparingen in sectoren als het transport, de bouw, de energiesector en de verwerkende industrie; is in dit verband verheugd over de studie van de Commissie naar de potentiële bijdrage van verscheidene op ICT gebaseerde speerpunttechnologieën aan het verbeteren van de energie-efficiëntie van de economie van de EU en het verminderen van broeikasgasemissies tegen 2020; dringt er bij de Commissie op aan om in deze studie intelligente beheerssystemen in het algemeen en intelligente netwerktechnologieën en geïntegreerde systemen in het bijzonder op te nemen;

(d) the promotion of activities linked to scientific and technological forward studies which contribute to the long term development of both Parties; and
d) stimulering van activiteiten in verband met prospectief wetenschappelijk en technologisch onderzoek die bijdragen tot de ontwikkeling van beide partijen op de lange termijn.
