Integrated strategies and action plans, such as those launched by the European Union and the United States against counterfeiting and the piracy of intellectual property, can be best put into practice through local strategic plans.
Geïntegreerde strategieën en actieplannen, zoals die welke de Europese Unie en de Verenigde Staten hebben gelanceerd in de strijd tegen namaak en piraterij van intellectuele eigendom, kunnen het best geïmplementeerd worden via plaatselijke strategische plannen.

The Commission also considers that it is for international financial institutions and United Nations agencies (not only the HCR but also the UNDP, OCHA, OHCHR, UNRWA, UNICEF, the WFP, WHO etc...), under the supervision of the Secretary-General, to better define the functions of each in improving the governance of refugees and to establish a strategic coordinated action plan to make practical improvements to the prospects for durable solutions in the application of each of these functions, having regard both to the fate awaiting refugees and to the capacities of the host countries and countries of origin concerned by flows related to asylum, integration and durable returns.

(7) The United Nations/Economic Commission for Europe Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context of 25 February 1991, which applies to both Member States and other States, encourages the parties to the Convention to apply its principles to plans and programmes as well; at the second meeting of the Parties to the Convention in Sofia on 26 and 27 February 2001, it was decided to prepare a legally binding protocol on strategic environmental assessment which would supplement the existing provisions on environmental impact assessment in a transboundary context, with a view to its possible adoption on the occasion of the 5th Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe" at an extraordinary meeting of the Parties to the Convention, scheduled for May 2003 in Kiev, Ukraine.
(7) Het VN/ECE-Verdrag inzake milieueffectbeoordeling in grensoverschrijdend verband van 25 februari 1991, dat zowel op de lidstaten als op andere staten van toepassing is, moedigt de verdragsluitende partijen aan de beginselen ervan eveneens op plannen en programma's toe te passen. Tijdens de tweede, op 26-27 februari 2001 te Sofia gehouden bijeenkomst, besloten de verdragsluitende partijen een bindend protocol betreffende strategische milieubeoordeling voor te bereiden als aanvulling op de bestaande bepalingen inzake milieueffectbeoordeling in grensoverschrijdend verband, en dit met het oog op de mogelijke goedkeuring ervan in het kader van de 5de ministerconferentie "Milieu voor Europa", op een buitengewone bijeenkomst van de verdragsluitende partijen, die in mei 2003 te Kiev, Oekraïne, zal worden gehouden.

Other documents related to specific aspects of regional policy were also produced, such as the guide to the territorial pacts 2000-2006, the final report on the Terra innovative measure, a study on the urban audit, a guide to the Business innovation centres (BIC), and six studies on: the prospects for regional planning in the context of enlargement, the impact of economic and monetary Union on cohesion, employment-related initiatives in the United Kingdom, equal opportunities and the Structural Funds, local development and the strategic and sustainable management of water resources.
Daarnaast zijn er publicaties geweest over specifieke onderdelen van het regionaal beleid, zoals een gids voor de territoriale werkgelegenheidspacten 2000-2006, het eindverslag van de innovatieve actie TERRA, een studie over stadsaudits, een gids over de Business Innovation Centres (BIC's) en voorts zes studies die respectievelijk betrekking hebben op de ruimtelijke ordening tegen de achtergrond van de uitbreiding van de Unie, de gevolgen van de Economische en Monetaire Unie voor de cohesie, werkgelegenheidsinitiatieven in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, gelijke kansen in het kader van de Structuurfondsen, lokale ontwikkeling, en tot slot een strategisch en duurzaam waterbeheer.
