Un rapport récent du Comité de Toxicologie du Royaume Uni, organisme indépendant de conseil scientifique, fait un nouveau point sur la possible toxicité de la caféine chez la femme enceinte et déclare, avec beaucoup de précautions, qu’il est vraisemblable que la caféine affecte le développement du fœtus déjà pour des apports journaliers de l’ordre de 200 mg (Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, COT, 2008).
Een recent verslag van het Committee on Toxicity uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk, een onafhankelijke wetenschappelijke raadgevende instelling, kijkt opnieuw naar de stand van zaken m.b.t. de potentiële toxiciteit van cafeïne bij zwangere vrouwen en stelt, met veel voorzichtigheid, dat cafeïne waarschijnlijk al vanaf een dagelijkse inname van 200 mg schadelijk is voor de foetale groei (Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, COT, 2008).

Au niveau européen, c’est en 1999 que le SCF (Scientific Committee on Food, 1999) a donné un premier avis concernant la caféine dans les boissons énergisantes et a conclu qu’un apport de 160 mg/jour par l’intermédiaire de cannettes contenant un niveau maximal de 320 mg/litre représente une contribution significative à l’apport journalier total en caféine.

Het is tot het besluit gekomen dat een inname van 160 mg cafeïne per dag via blikjes met een maximumgehalte van 320 mg/liter significant bijdraagt tot de totale dagelijkse cafeïne-inname.
