Lors de deux études randomisées en double aveugle menées chez 1 132 patients recevant une chimiothérapie modérément émétisante, incluant cisplatine à ≤ 50 mg/m 2 , carboplatine, cyclophosphamide à ≤ 1 500 mg/m 2 et doxorubicine à > 25 mg/m 2 , le palonosétron (250 microgrammes et 750 microgrammes) a été comparé à ondansétron 32 mg (demi-vie de 4 heures) ou dolasétron 100 mg (demi-vie de 7,3 heures) administré par voie intraveineuse le premier jour, sans dexaméthasone.
In twee gerandomiseerde, dubbelblinde onderzoeken met in totaal 1.132 patiënten die matig emetogene chemotherapie ontvingen die cisplatine ≤50 mg/m 2 , carboplatine, cyclofosfamide ≤1.500 mg/m2 en doxorubicine > 25 mg/m 2 inhield, werd palonosetron 250 microgram en 750 microgram vergeleken met ondansetron 32 mg (halfwaardetijd 4 uur) of dolasetron 100 mg (halfwaardetijd 7,3 uur) die op dag 1 zonder dexamethason intraveneus werd toegediend.
