Par ailleurs, la parenté structurelle du dabigatran avec le ximélagatran, un autre anticoagulant oral inhibiteur de la thrombine qui a été retiré du marché en 2006 en raison de son hépatotoxicité [voir Folia de mars 2006 ], et l’absence de données à long terme incitent également à la prudence. Un remboursement est prévu par l’INAMI (catégorie b, chapitre IV) pour la prévention primaire des événements thrombo-emboliques veineux après prothèse totale de la hanche ou du genou (situation au 22/10/09).
