Les patients qui ont auparavant été dépendants aux corticostéroïdes oraux peuvent, suite à un traitement prolongé par corticostéroïdes systémiques, développer des signes d’une altération de la fonction surrénalienne.
Patiënten die voorheen afhankelijk waren van orale corticosteroïden, kunnen ten gevolge van langdurige systemische behandeling met corticosteroïden verschijnselen vertonen van een verminderde adrenale functie.

En effet des décès, dus à une insuffisance cortico-surrénale, sont survenus chez des patients asthmatiques pendant et après passage de corticostéroïdes systémiques à un traitement à activité systémique réduite tels que des corticostéroïdes inhalés.

Patiënten die systemische corticosteroïden genomen hebben gedurende een lange periode en/of aan hoge dosissen moeten van nabij opgevolgd worden bij overschakeling op een behandeling met inhalatiecorticosteroïden.
